Itching Dog

Ive got a border collie and she is just scratching like crazy. I thought it might be dry skin so she got a medicated shampoo bath but that didnt seem to help. she has what looks like dandruff on her skin, just a bunch of flakes, and her skin is kindof red all over once you part all the hair. I dont know what its from. We kindof had fleas late in the year and i was putting some sevin dust on her and some of that frontline flea stuff, and i wonder if i overdid it. Anyone know what else i can do for her. Can i give her benedryl(spelling) for humans with her food to help her skin? any ideas?

It sounds like your dog has a generalized dermatitis, most common reason for this problem is an allergy issue. However, you also have to consider a mite issue. The most common mite would be Scabies. I would recommend taking her to the veterinarian since you have already tried some home care.
Yuo can use Benadryl in healthy dogs, typically a normal sized Bordie Collie could take 25mg of Benadryl for temporary relief until you can get her to the vets office.
